Cabins with group
– we have already reserved a number of Blackwater Falls cabins together
for July 5 – 9, or some until the 12th. There may be a few
rooms available in one of these cabins for those who want to join the
wedding / reunion group. Contact Phyllis to see if any are still
available.

Facilities
– cabins are comfortably furnished with
full kitchen supplies for the number in that cabin. They have microwave,
coffee maker, toaster, etc. but not dishwasher. There are ceiling fans,
but most do not have air conditioner. There are picnic tables at each
cabin, and a couple of lawn chairs, but bring portable lawn chairs if
you have them. There are small grills outside and indoor fireplace, but
no outdoor fires are allowed.
There is some cell service (at least AT&T). There may be wireless
internet access at / near the lodge, but not in the cabin area. No TVs
are supplied in the cabin, but there is TV in the lounge area of the
lodge.
Crash Space
– if you are coming just for the wedding, but want to stay for the
afterparty and not drive home that night, we can probably find you couch
or floor space. Bring a bedroll. Let us know ahead so we can figure out
how many we need to find space for.
Blackwater Falls State Park lodging
– additional cabins and lodge rooms are possible. Check early, as they
fill up quickly.

From Rt 32 just on the north side of Davis
(south of Thomas and Rt 93 end) -
take Rt 29 east to the Blackwater Falls State Park,

continue straight following signs to Pendleton Point Overlook.
FROM North and West, Pittsburgh, PA,
Morgantown, WV

From Pittsburgh, follow I-79 South to Morgantown,
-
Take I-68 East to Rt. 42 South (Friendsville, MD exit), to Rt. 219 South to Thomas and Davis WV.
FROM South and West, Charleston, WV, Oklahoma
and Texas

From Charleston, WV, I-79 North to Rt. 33 East (Exit 99).

Alternate 1: Get off of 4-lane at Elkins, WV, following Rt. 33 East to Harman. Turn left on Rt. 32 North to Canaan Valley and Davis.

Alternate 2: Follow Rt. 33 East (4 lane) past Elkins to its end. Follow Rt. 219 North to Thomas, WV, turn right to Davis and Blackwater Falls. Slightly shorter but twistier than alternate 1, about the same driving time.
FROM North and East, Hagarstown, MD
intersection of I-81 and I-70

From Hagarstown, follow I-70 West to I-68 West to Cumberland, MD.

Exit at the Greene Street exit (Rt. 220 South). Follow Rt. 220 South through Keyser, WV, to Rt. 50 West through New Creek, WV,

Turn left onto Rt. 93 West and follow this down the valley, up the mountain, and across the plateau. 93 ends at Rt. 32, turn left to Davis, WV and Blackwater Falls.
FROM East, northern Virginia, Washington, DC
If you are coming
from DC area and want to explore, try this to take advantage of 4-lane
construction that is more recent than most directions allow for. Looks
like about 3 hours or so from Manassas / Dulles area.

From I66 go south on I81, go 2 exits then
take exit 296, onto US 48, Va 55.

Go right (west) and follow into West
Virginia.

This will become 4 lane just past
Wardensville. Take the 4 lane (stay with US48 when WV55 turns off)
past Moorefield, until it ends.

This is where the exploration part is.
You want to take County Route 3/Knobley Rd, to Co Route 3/3
Greenland Gap Road. This will just be a few miles until you reach WV
93 W.

Take WV 93W up the mountain, across the
plateau, and you come out onto Rt 32 just a mile north of Davis. Go
left, then right onto 29, and you’re at the park.

Air Travel
Closest major airport is
Pittsburgh. Morgantown has some air service and would be the
closest, though probably not the cheapest. Clarksburg is closest of
all, but again flights there will be few and expensive. If you are
coming through Elkins anyway, check out Charleston – it is slightly
closer to Elkins than PIT.
